Our Vision

bethel ame rising church

At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the AME Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and to serve the needy. It is also the duty of Church to continue to encourage all members to become involved in all aspects of church training.

Rev. Randy Jerry Rhodes Jr. is the son of Mr. Samuel House and Mrs. Earnestine House. He is the only child to his mother and was raised to treat everyone with respect. Rev. Rhodes is a member of Heyward AME Church in Gaston, South Carolina where Rev. Dr. Harold Conyers is the pastor. Rhodes has served in many capacities throughout the AME Church, including the YPD, Choir, and Young Adult Ministry. Randy loves his family, friends, and the ministry.

In 2008, Rev. Rhodes graduated from Calhoun County High School in Saint Matthew, South Carolina. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts in Religion in 2013 from Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. In 2017, Rhodes graduated from Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia where he earned his Master of Divinity.

Rhodes was ordained an Itinerant Deacon in the Central Annual Conference of the Seventh Episcopal District in October 2014. In 2015, he was appointed Pastor of St. Paul Wylam AME Church in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2016, he served at Bethel AME Church-Homewood. Rev. Rhodes was ordained an Itinerant Elder in the Northwest Annual Conference of the Ninth Episcopal District in September 2017 and is currently the Pastor of Bethel AME Church-Rising.

Randy loves preaching in season and out of season. He loves working with the youth and believes that the youth is not the future church but the present church. His life motto comes from Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
